How expensive will space travel/tourism be in 20 years?
Q. I'm 20 years old now and studying to become an ecologist. My ultimate dream is to view the earth from space, and I think this dream will be attainable before I die. I understand that space tourism is in its infancy right now, but technology is advancing at an exponential rate. In 2030-2040, will it still be ridiculously expensive to go into space?

Are there any difference between travel & tourism and hospitality?
Q. Because someone told me that they're just the same and travel & tourism is the new word for "hospitality." And can someone explain to me what those two careers really are? I know that they're both about "traveling," but I'm not really sure if they have any difference. Like what kind of jobs you can get after you graduate college and stuff? Please give me good explanations. Thank you.

A. Yeah there is a difference Hospitality isn't so much traveling at all really but >preparing food and drinks for customers >working as part of a team >using customer service and communication skills >working in a busy, high-pressure environment >managing a business, including staff management >part-time, casual or seasonal work. Careers like working in bar, food and beverage, restruant, caterer, waiter, fast food, working in or owning a hotel, cook and working in the kitchen. Tourism People who work in tourism can do a variety of jobs including: >active outdoor work such as teaching people snowsports >guiding roles >transporting people and telling them about tourist attractions >helping people plan and book travel and activities. Travel… [cont.]

Asked by Pinkkk - Fri Apr 30 13:12:41 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Go on holiday? Most Uni's do not accept it as a proper qualification along with General Studies, so unless you really want to work in that area at a junior level it really isn't valuable. Think about what you want to do after and get all the qualifications you can.

Are there any well-paying professional jobs in the travel/tourism industry?
Q. Something that pay, say, at least 50k and isn't a travel agent? If so, what are they and how do you find them?
Asked by Lost OC Boy - Fri Mar 14 21:48:47 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Perhaps you could join some top airline company: Emirates, Qatar, or Etihad. You could (after some training) work their on-ground operations. Normally they pay well, and sometimes you can even end up living in Dubai where there are no taxes on income... (I'm not sure if that's still valid, though)... And well, you can get free tickets to any place in the world. That's the best part of it all.

A. Being part of a flight crew isn't as glamorous as it might appear as. Long travels, boring airport hotels, offensive passengers etc. I think you will see a lot more of the world if you chose another profession within tourism and travel. I have seen some posting about it here: Good luck!

A. Life is a lifelong learning process. You can never be too old to learn. I admitted a lady in her 60's into a medical school program. Don't ever set strict time limits on yourself especially when it comes to learning.

What will i learn if i take on a course in travel and tourism?
Q. I am planning to take travel and tourism and i don't really know what i will be really learning?
Asked by nickki - Sun Mar 22 16:22:07 2009 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Most likely you'll learn about what visitors are looking for when they travel to a different place, methods of transport available in different countries, what your area / country has to offer tourists, what makes visitor attractions successful or unsuccessful. You'll probably have to devise a plan or itinerary , for example someone wants to visit Gambia for 2 weeks, you have to find out what there is to do there, which airlines go there, suitable places to stay etc. etc. Or someone coming from (say) America wanting to travel around the UK for a month, wants to see as much as possible including major cities, doesn't like driving, wants to climb Ben Nevis. All geared towards getting YOU to practice finding sources of information.
