What is the average utility costs per month in Alberta?
Q. I'm planning to move there in a year or so, and want to know how much money I need to save up. There's 4 of us (me, my husband, 2 kids). Any information reguarding my move to alberta would be greatly appreciated! BTW: I'm thinking about moving in the Calgary or Edmonton area...is that a good place to start out?
Asked by igr - Sat Jul 11 16:47:22 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well it cost about as much as the hydro in any other part of Canada. The Calgary or Edmonton area would be a good place to start out. Alberta is expensive so you should really watch your money. Where are you moving from? If you are coming from a different country, make sure you get a work visa. Any other questions about Alberta, email me. Good luck!

Are dwarf alberta spruce trees suitable for creating a hedge?
Q. I've been trying to find a good windbreak/hedge for my northern Michigan garden. On a recent foray to a nursery, I noticed the dwarf alberta spruce trees and immediately fell in love. However, I was doing a bit of research and found that they are almost always treated as specimen plants. Would it be okay to grow them as a hedge, or should I look elsewhere? Any advice is appreciated!
Asked by Emily - Wed May 14 22:05:36 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You should look elsewhere. In the first place they are quite expensive. They also grow very slowly. Neither of these attributes is desirable in a hedge. Try some of the hardier (and cheaper) firs. Drive around your area and when you see something you like, stop and ask the people at the property if they're out. That's a great way to find out exactly what grows in your specific area.

Sinkholes in Guatemala Alberta Quebec and China Any thoughts on a disturbing pattern or is is all coincidence?
Q. The sink hole in Guatemala China and Alberta occurred after a heavy rainfall I am not all that sure of the circumstances of the one in Quebec but it apparently swallowed a truck Should any conclusions be drawn from this ? Is it all a big coincidence ? If it is not all a coincidence it would appear a symptom of a greater condition -- If so what ? Any thoughts ?
Asked by Trout - Thu Jun 24 17:39:16 2010 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It certainly is suspicious. What concerns me is the others look like regular sinkholes, irregular in shape and depth. But the one in Guatemala is almost a perfect circle and goes down 300 feet or so. I think something big is going on, and we're not being told the whole story.

How much would it cost to ship a 46" LCD television to Newfoundland from Alberta?
Q. I'm currently living in Fort Mcmurray, Alberta. I'll be moving to Newfoundland soon and I want to bring my 46" sony with me but I can't bring it on the plane. I was just wondering how much it would cost to ship such a large package via mail. Thanks.
Asked by SimmShady22 - Wed Jan 20 22:00:38 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You are moving and all you want to bring is your TV? You don't have any furniture, family heirlooms, or other items to bring with you? If you do have more than just the TV, your best bet would be to get a company to drop off a small cargo container, you put all the stuff you want moved into it, then they load that onto a truck or on a train, and it gets carried across country to your new home. On the other hand, if it is JUST the TV, you can have that shipped by courier or by Canada Post. You would want to package that up very well and mark fragile on it, and you probably want to have the shipment insured in case they break it or it doesn't work when it arrives in Newfoundland. Shipping parcels like that are based on their weight and… [cont.]

Is it possible to keep native fish in an aquarium in Alberta?
Q. Is it possible to keep native fish in an aquarium in Alberta, Canada? I have a nice 65g tank that I would like to put lake chub, small shiners, and minnows in. Nothing endangered, threatened, or anything, just the really common minnows. But I do not know what the law says about it. What does the law say regarding this? Is there a permit I can get? How would one go about catching the minnows - the legal way?
Asked by Crystals - Thu Sep 4 23:34:20 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Canada might have different laws but if it isnt an endangered species it can be ok. Native N.A fishkeeping is a dieing art. personally i use to own a couple large mouth basses and gars, but i wouldnt recommend it unless you are a true professional. The problem with native fishes is that you will need a good filteration system. modern filters are meant to handle the load of tropical fishes not native. Thats a problem i had with my large mouth basses the amount of waste was too much for 2 ehiem pro 2 canister filters. But since ur talking about small shiner and chubs you will be fine. Make sure not too many though.

A. It depends on if you have a trade. If you have a trade you will be able to get work very quickly unlike the other post said, if you have a skilled trade it is not slowing down. However if you have no experience (entry-level) you may have a harder time. In for Fort McMurray the 'average' wage last year was $97,000 a year.

Asked by hopefull - Tue Jan 30 19:03:59 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You must mean Protection Act? I think it's hard to get and keep foster parents and when the biological parents lose custody they get put into one of these homes that seems okay to the social worker. It must be very scary for a child to go into a strange home when you're so little. Maybe hidden cameras would be the answer.
