Designed as the lexical companion to Wikipedia, the encyclopaedia project, Wiktionary has grown beyond a standard dictionary and now includes a thesaurus, a rhyme guide, phrase books, language statistics and extensive appendices. We aim to include not only the definition of a word, but also enough information to really understand it. Thus etymologies, pronunciations, sample quotations, synonyms, antonyms and translations are included. GNU Free Documentation License What is the North Shore Oahu like? Q. Are there any jobs there? I found a nice cheap place, but I'm afraid I won't be able to find a job. Are there bus lines to Honolulu from there, or is it kind of isolated? Asked by Questions - Sat Aug 8 03:52:20 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. More for the surfer crowd. There is a buss that runs all the way around the Island, It could take you as much as a couple of hours to get into honolulu, by car maybe 50minutes. It realy depends on the time of day i.e. trafic. Most of the jobs are in the tourist industry, or possibly security. Answered by Peace - Sat Aug 8 04:18:50 2009 Heard a siren off the North Shore of Oahu? Q. On July 1st, 2009, my boyfriend and I were stopping at the grocery store next to shark's cove near North Shore, Oahu, when we heard some rounds of what sounded like an air-raid siren. I remember living in San Francisco we used to hear the air raid siren every Tuesday at noon as a test, but this was on a Wednesday at a random time. Can anyone on here give me some insight as to what it was? It seems like those sirens are usually used for tsunami warnings, but a google search did not yield any notices testing the sirens that day, nor any evidence of earthquake... just curious, thanks for your help! Asked by FutureDoc - Sat Jul 25 04:44:35 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. We heard it too here on Kauai, it sounded like an air-raid siren,my 13 year old daughter was still asleep, she shot out of bed thinking we were going to be hit by a hurricane! We were all glad to hear it was just a test of the EBS when we tuned into channel 6. Answered by HEARTS 808's KIDDO - Sat Jul 25 10:30:54 2009 What's the best way to get from Honolulu to the North Shore?
Q. I'm not familiar with Oahu! Traveling to see the Pipe Masters contest this December and found a place to stay in Honolulu. Travel time is not an issue and I don't want to rent a car. What's the bus route like? Are there tours that stop and drop me off there? Any info appreciated. Asked by PeahiWahine - Tue Jun 12 22:09:21 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. Its a very long way to the Pipe. Remember just getting out of Honolulu some times takes over and hour. The bus to the north shore works fine but it takes forever. Many stops and it fights the same traffic. Check with your hotel. They have many tours going literally everywhere. You can probably get there quicker with this method but it will cost just a bit more. But... really, It really would be worth your while to rent a car. Remember that the Masters timing is not cut in stone. Weather and wave conditions lead to many postponements, so you might spend hours to get there only to find that the days events have been canceled. You can check on the radio every morning early and they will let you know the chances of the contest… [cont.] Answered by Traveler - Tue Jun 12 22:38:00 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "north shore (oahu)"
